  Configuring Netscape Navigator

Netscape Navigator

Set up the Start Page
Launch your Netscape Navigator first.
At the main screen, click on Options and select General Preferences.
Go to the Appearance tab and on the Startup section, select Homepage Location.
Set the location to http://www.kalnet.com.au
Click on OK to complete the setup.

Configuring the Mail and Groups
At the main screen, click on Options and select Mail and News Preferences.
Go to the Server tab, and enter the following information:

Mail server user name: (Your userid)
Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.kalnet.com.au
Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.kalnet.com.au
POP3 Username : (your userid)

For the News section enter your News (NNTP) Server as news.kalnet.com.au

Go to the Identity tab, and enter the following information:

Your Name: (your full name)
Your Email: (your email address)

Press OK to complete the setup.

Configuring the Proxy Server
Click on Options and select Network Preferences.
Select PROXIES tab.
Set your settings to Manual Proxy Configuration.

Click on the View button.
Key in proxy.kalnet.com.au at the following lines and key in 8080 for the respective Port settings:

- FTP Proxy
- HTTP Proxy

Lastly, type kalnet.com.au at the No Proxy For column and click on the OK upon completion.
Click on the OK button again to exit from network preferences.
It's done!


Configuring Netscape Communicator

Set up the Start Page
Launch your Netscape Communicator first. At the main screen, click on Edit and select Preferences. Go to the category Navigator and select to Start with Homepage. Under the homepage section, set the location to http://www.kalnet.com.au

Configuring the Mail and Groups

  • Proceed to double click on the Mail and Groups category,and choose Identity. Enter the following information:

    Your Name: (your full name)
    Email Address: your Email Address

  • Go to the Mail Server sub-category, and enter the following information:

    Mail server user name: (Your userid)
    Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.kalnet.com.au
    Incoming mail server: mail.kalnet.com.au

  • Go to the Mail Server sub-category, and set the Discussion Group Server to news.kalnet.com.au , and set the port number to 119.

    Configuring the Proxy Server

    Please note that you are required to configure proxy settings in order to surf.

  • Double click on the Advanced option until the it opens up the other options such as Cache, Proxies, and Disk Space.
  • Click on Proxies, and set your settings to Manual Proxy Configuration.
  • Click on the View button.
  • Key in proxy.kalnet.com.au at the following lines and key in 8080 for the respective Port settings:

    - FTP Proxy
    - HTTP Proxy

  • Lastly, type kalnet.com.au at the "Do not use proxy servers for domains beginning with:" column and click on the OK upon completion.
  • Click on the OK button again to exit from Preferences.
  • It's done!

Configuring Proxys
Go to My Computer, Control Panel. Open the icon "The Internet"

  • Enable the "Connect through a proxy server" and click on the "Settings..." button.
  • Set the proxy settings as below:

    HTTP: proxy.kalnet.com.au port: 8080
    FTP: proxy.kalnet.com.au port: 8080

    Configuring the Mail and Groups

  • Mail and News Preferences. click on the "Programs..." button.
  • Then enter the following information:

    Mail server user name: (Your userid)
    Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: mail.kalnet.com.au
    Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.kalnet.com.au
    POP3 Username : (your userid)

  • For Exceptions, set to: kalnet.com.au
  • Press OK to complete the setup.
  • Go to the "Navigation" tab, and set your Start Page's address to http://www.kalnet.com.au
  • Press "Apply" and then "OK". The settings are done.

Configuring Proxys

Go to My Computer, Control Panel. Open the icon "The Internet"

  • Enable the "Connect through a proxy server" and click on the "Settings..." button.
  • Set the proxy settings as below:

    HTTP: proxy.kalnet.com.au port: 8080
    FTP: proxy.kalnet.com.au port: 8080

    Configuring the Mail and Groups

  • Mail and News Preferences. click on the "Programs..." button.
  • Then enter the following information:

    Incoming mail (POP3) server: mail.kalnet.com.au

  • Press OK to complete the setup.
  • Go to the "Navigation" tab, and set your Start Page's address to http://www.kalnet.com.au
  • Press "Apply" and then "OK". The settings are done.
