Configure your mail using Eudora

To configure Eudora, do the following:

1. Install Eudora and restart your computer.

2. Double-click the Eudora icon to open it. If you are installing Eudora for the first time, the New Account Wizard opens, showing the welcome screen.

3. Click Next to begin setting up your new email account.

4. Select an appropriate method of setting up your account:

a. Create a brand new email account (go to step 7). Select this method to set up a new account if you are not familiar with Eudora or other email programs. You are prompted to enter one piece of information per window.
b. Import settings from an existing email account (go to step 5). Select this method if you want to import your settings, mail, and address book from Outlook Express. 5.0, Outlook 98., Outlook 2000., or Netscape Messenger. 4.x, and higher into Eudora.

5. If you choose to import settings from an existing email account, and select the account and click Next. Eudora asks you to confirm the settings and optionally change them. If you choose No and click Next, your account is set up when you click Finish in the final window. If you choose Yes and click Next, the New Account wizard walks you through the fields to be changed as described further below. When you click Finish in the final window, your new account is set up.

6. If in the Account Setup window you choose to create a brand new email account and click Next, the New Account Wizard begins guiding you through the fields for which you need to enter setup information.

7. In the windows of the New Account wizard, enter the following field information (click Next after filling out each window):
. Your Name . Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From field of all of your outgoing messages from this email account, to indicate to your recipients whom the mail is from.
. Return Address . Enter the email address that has been assigned to you by Kalnet. This is the address that other people will use to send you email. Return addresses are in the form (your userID)@kalnet.com.au
. Login Name . Enter the name that you will use to log in to this email account. This name is the userID supplied by Kalnet.
. Incoming E-mail Server . All of your incoming email messages are delivered to your incoming email account, which resides on a computer that runs your incoming email server. When your messages arrive at your mail account, Eudora picks them up and transfers them to your computer. Your incoming email server uses an Internet mail communications protocol called POP (Post Office Protocol) so select POP In the edit box, type the full name of the computer that runs your incoming email server which is (your userID)@kalnet.com.au
. Click Finish in the final window and your new POP email account is set up.

You are now ready to send and receive mail in Eudora. If you ever wish to change the settings of your email account, you can do so from the Options dialog box.

Configure your mail using Outlook Express

To add a mail account you will need to know the following information given to you by Kalnet
Mail server is a POP3
Your userID and password
The incoming mail server is kalnet.com.au
The outgoing mail server is SMTP
On the Tools menu, click Accounts. In the Internet Accounts dialog box, click the Add button. Select Mail to open the Internet Connection Wizard
. Your Name . Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the From field of all of your outgoing messages from this email account, to indicate to your recipients whom the mail is from. Clcik Next
. Click the radio button "I already have an account I would like to use" and type in
(your userID)@kalnet.com.au. Click Next
. Select POP3 as the incoming mail server
. Go to "Enter Incoming Mail Server" This is the address that other people will use to send you email. This will be (your userID)@kalnet.com.au
. Go to "Outgoing Mail Server" This will be (your userID)@kalnet.com.au. (Kalnet uses a SMTP server so this is correct) Click Next
. Enter (your userID) and password as supplied by Kalnet and Click Next.
. Click FINISH and your email account will be successfully established.

Configure Outlook Express Identities for Windows

Open Outlook Express.
Click on the File menu option located at the top of the window.
Click the Identities option from the drop down menu.
Click on Manage Identities.

Click the New button.

Type a name for the new identity.
If you don't wish to password protect your identity, click OK then go to Step 5.
If wish to password protect your identity put a tick next to Require a password.

Step 4 of 7

Type a password for the new identity if you want to restrict access to the profile.
Confirm the password by retyping it in the second field.
Click the OK button.

Click the Close button.

Step 6 of 7

You will be asked if you wish to switch to the new identity.
If you click Yes, Outlook Express shall close and re-open under the details of the new identity.
If you click No, Outlook Express shall continue to operate normally.

Step 7 of 7

You can change identities at any time by clicking on the File menu then clicking on Switch Identity.

For each identity created you will need to Configure Outlook Express to collect mail from a mailbox.

FAQ

Why does my email close after I send or receive an email

In Eudora go to Tools, Options, Internet Dialup and make sure that the box "Hang-up after receiving and sending" is not checked. If it is uncheck it.

In Outlook Express go to Options, Connections and make sure that the box "Hang-up after receiving and sending" is not checked. If it is uncheck it.

Favourites

To add a page to your list of favorite pages go to the page you want to add to your Favorites list. On the Favorites menu, click Add to Favorites. Type a new name for the page if you want to. Tips To open one of your favorite pages, click the Favorites menu, and then click the page you want to open. As your list of favorite pages grows, you can organize them into folders.

Internet Connection

On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options. Click the Connections tab, and then click Setup. Follow the instructions on your screen.
